Lymm Dickensian 2006

10th December 2006

Dickensian 2006 Photographs:

Congratulations to the new organisers Lymm Round Table and Rotary Club who have worked very hard to make this year’s Dickensian Day a great success!

Now they know what hard work it has been in the past for, Peter Critchley and Daniella Budd who have now retired from the organisation of this event.

Radio Lymm was on all week with some interesting speakers, ‘Thought for the Day’, and great music, this we are sure should be a feature for subsequent years well done to all who took part and the sponsor Bryant Homes.

The weather was foul all week leading up to the Festival, but the day was fine and bright. Everyone seemed to have turned out, the village was at a standstill with so many people having a great time, watching the fantastic Street Entertainers, Morris Dancers and listening to the music provided by Lymm High School Orchestra, the Amicus Singers, the Highlanders Pipe Band and many more!

The local schools took part in the Parade with a competition to win £250 for the school with the most dressed up group.

Santa this year had his Grotto in the village and was very busy listening to requests of various gifts he of course will to watching to make sure all the children are good, kind and helpful between now and Christmas Day!

The village hall had stalls, with crafts and Christmas gifts and the Local Artists put on a display of fine art. The Youth club held a display of craft stalls, both indoor events were a busy and hopefully raised lots of funds.

Although Lymm has grown considerably over the last few years, the Festivals help to maintain a unique village atmosphere, long may it continue we have a village to be proud of!

To make Christmas complete, don’t forget to go to Carols around the Cross on Christmas Eve at 7:00pm. See you there the Lymm Net web cam will be watching you!

Lymm Net would like to thank everyone for visiting and contributing to the site all year. Have a great Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!

Thanks to Gill Fox and Granville Gough for taking pictures
