Lymm Duck Race!
The Annual Lymm Duck Race takes place every Easter Monday at the Upper Dam in Lymm.
Is it all about a bunch of fruitcakes
standing around watching plastic ducks race to the lower dam rather than watch the World's Strongest Man on TV or is there a hidden meaning?????
Well, it is actually one of hundreds of events organised by Lymm and District Round Table.
‘When I joined the table I thought it was a bunch of masons- I then realised it was a bunch of 30 something nutters who needed something else outside of the rat race. I would leave my wife for these guys' (Steve, 33, Lymm)
‘I love Lymm, I love my life. I wanted to get my life back and put something back into the community' (Steve, stressed out, 38, Lymm)
‘I have found true friendship and raised thousands for charity. I think I might be gay or Bob Geldof' (Steve, 42, undecided, Lymm)
(Everybody in table is called Steve- it makes things easier!!)
We are currently recruiting for new members to join our adventure. We all have jobs that take up far too much of our time. Amongst our ranks, we have a solicitor, a chemist, a radio presenter, a printer, an airline co-ordinator, a business development manager, a corrosion engineer, a banker, a guy who sells trains, a guy who sells to pubs, and an anaesthetist, and many, many more.
We never talk about work and we can't make all the Table meetings. We all accept that. But when we get together, we party like there's no tomorrow and we raise thousands for the local community.
