Further to a lively morning spent on the "hustings" on Lymm Cross, the feeling of the people came across loud and clear.
They have had enough of the over development of Lymm. Despite Lymm centre being partially paralysed by the road works on Rushgreen Road, the centre of the village was busy with shoppers of all ages, everyone with a story to tell.
We have now collected over 1000 signatures calling the Council to listen to the views of the people, but more importantly we are well over half way to our target of 500 individually written statements, outlining the impact
this development has on families in Lymm.
Statements written by Doctors, Teachers, Pre School Co-Ordinators, Community Association Leaders, ex Councillors and Traders clearly voiced
the frustration of local residents.
Stories of families with three children in three different primary schools in Lymm, difficulties of getting to work as the roads are so busy, pressure caused on children by class sizes, children waiting to get into leisure activities so heavily over subscribed, problems with parking so that shopping in the village becomes impossible, and waiting for appointments at the doctors or dentists.
If Lymm is to become a town, then it needs to facilities of a town, and the developers have to pay.
My plan from now is to get up to 500 signed statements. I will send some of the more focused ones to the Planning Inspectorate with my submission
for the Appeal on Millers Lane. when I get up to 500, I will then present them, along with the petition asking the Council to listen, to Steve Broomhead at Warrington Council.
So please try and get more statements, especially from local Scout, Guide, Beaver or Brownie leaders, local traders or anyone involved in Education in the area or the booking of appointments for our medical services. If
you need a Portfolio of Evidence sheet sending please e-mail me and I will send one by return. speak with your neighbour, ask them to fill one out, and get it to me. Please!!
What we have now is 1000 signatures asking the Council to listen. What we need now is 500 statements telling them what we want them to hear. If they
do nothing after that then there is no more we can do!
Thanks to those of you who helped me on the Cross.
Hopefully listening to peoples views has galvanised your own.
