The new Lymm High School interactive web site goes live today
(Tuesday 5th) on the World Wide Web. Lymmhigh.co.uk
aims to provide in-depth information for parents, student
and visitors.
The
new Web site features in-depth news, events and information
relative to the school and its activities. The site incorporates
Lymm High’s traditional colours and graphics.
“Our online visitors will now experience a more vibrant
and seamless view of Lymm High School and its many online
resources,” says Mike Lawton, E-Learning Co-ordinator.
“We are hoping the new site will play an important role
within the school giving parents, pupils and staff up to the
minute information.
We want to develop it as a more effective method of communication
between home and school than we have at present. It will enable
us to take learning beyond the confines of the school day,
giving students (and parents!) a chance to extend and reinforce
their studies.”
Content and Accessibility
The new Web site offers users over 200 pages related to Lymm
High School. The site is organised to provide quick and direct
access to all of these resources. If a user is not sure exactly
where to look for specific information on lymmhigh.co.uk,
the newly developed site-wide search engine will help.
Among the features on lymmhigh.co.uk’s homepage, "Learning
Zone" is being developed to provide a truly interactive
learning experience for pupils. It will extend pupils ability
to learn on-line, allowing access to course material, subject
matter, their on-line learning portfolio as well as tests
and revision quizzes.
“For Visitors” will features our half termly
newsletter, and other items of interest to the casual visitor.
“For Parents & Students” features an interactive
calendar, Halls information, sports fixtures and other in-depth
information.
“School Links” contains links to relative organisations
associated with the school.
The new website has been developed by 3-Squared
LLP, a web design and business solutions company based
in Sheffield, working closely with the staff and pupils of
Lymm High School.
"This new design was created specifically for our online
audience of both general visitors and students," says
Director James Fox. "Packed with information, and news
that will be constantly updated, the Web site will help make
the school’s resources more attractive and accessible
to a global audience of all ages and backgrounds."
James also commented, "We hope to keep working closely
with the school to eventually allow parents to view their
children's reports online - this is only the beginning of
the website, we hope it can grow with the school as necessary."
