May Queen 2006

This year the May Queen route has had to be changed due to the fact that there will be no police presence on the day for the event.

The parade will still commence from 1.30pm on Saturday

This means that due to health and safety and insurance reasons floats cannot use the top road.

The lorries will leave the council offices (Brookfield Road) as normal down Eagle Brow and then straight up Pepper Street.

Unfortunately the organisers were only told of this decision on Thursday.

Organisers will be putting posters in the village in local shops, pubs to advertise this change, but please spread the word and let others know of this change to the day's arrangements.
